Holaday-Parks Knows What Keeps a Building Ticking

It’s all about a Building Automation System (BAS). Simply put―a Building Automation System (BAS) is the heartbeat of a building. As energy flows through the structure via heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and piping systems a control system can scan, assess, and rebalance distribution for the greatest efficiency and effectiveness. “New buildings can be equipped with a BAS during construction, and older buildings can be retrofitted to capture all the savings and benefits,” says BJ Giri, New Markets and Managing Principal at Holaday-Parks. “If you’re looking to save energy and budget dollars—an efficient BAS does both.”

BAS Explained

A BAS is equipped with many sensors that constantly monitor and scan each system. As the data is processed, the system can reset and rebalance as needed. For example―lights can automatically switch off when people are not present, windows can automatically vent to improve air quality and temperature. While this benefits the comfort, well-being, and productivity of the people inside the building―behind the scenes, the system is reducing energy consumption, which means BIG savings to bottom-line maintenance costs.

Data Doesn’t Lie—10-20% Savings

Saying it is one thing and proving it is another. “BAS is a key factor to ensure that the building’s energy rating on paper matches the building’s actual performance. By adopting a Building Automation System rather than a conventional system—a building owner can track and report energy usage with a typical reduction of 10-20%,” says Scott Woehrman, Director of Building Automation at Holaday-Parks.

Open-System—Fully Scalable—Future-Ready

In recent years there has been a movement away from traditional, proprietary building automation towards those that are more open and connected. Why? First, an explosion of smart-phone enabled APIs/APPs/IoT and advances in wireless BAS technologies have created a new opportunity for building owners to get even more out of a BAS. “Embracing this new technology has major strategic business advantages for building owners,” adds Woehrman. “Those that adopt open and connected ‘future-ready’ automation platforms will be ready for tenants looking for ‘Net Positive Energy’ and ‘Digital-Ready’ buildings.”

We Are Experts

Holaday-Parks has grown organically to become the Pacific Northwest’s leader in high-technology open-platform building automation systems.
